Emergency Psychiatric Service

The Emergency Psychiatric Service provides crisis and/or evaluative services for residents and visitors to Boulder County as well as emergency supportive services to our current clients.

Problems that are commonly referred for Emergency Services would include:

  • Acute loss reactions (such as the death of a loved one)
  • Suicidal or homicidal states
  • Psychotic or incipient psychotic reactions
  • Acute anxiety
  • Depressive reactions

The Emergency staff who are on duty 24  hours a day, 7 days per week, will initially take emergency telephone calls.

If a face-to-face evaluation is necessary, we will see the client within a brief period of time.

Rape Crisis Assistance

The MESA (Moving to End Sexual Assault) TEAM serves the needs of the survivors of sexual assault as well as their family and friends.  We serve individuals by providing crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, support information and referrals.  The Prevention Education Program provides presentations to increase public awareness and personal safety with the goal of reducing the occurrence of sexual assault.

SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • 24-hour crisis phone line (303-443-7300) for victims of sexual assault as well as their family and friends.
  • Crisis intervention, support and advocacy for sexual assault victims, their family and friends.
  • Responding to hospital emergency rooms or support during Sexual Assault Nurse Exams.
  • Accompniment to law enforcement interviews and through criminal justice proceedings.
  • Therapy groups
    • Adolescent survivor group
    • Male survivor group
    • Female survivor group
    • Incest survivor group
  • Individual therapy
  • Educational presentations, workshops and seminars.

Chinook Clubhouse

Chinook Clubhouse is a program dedicated to enhancing the recovery of men and woman with mental illnesses. It provides opportunities for members to live, work, learn, and socialize while contributing their talents in a community of mutual support

The Chinook Clubhouse works with the Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to offer transitional employment opportunities.

Mission:

Cedar House is a hospital alternative that serves up to 15 clients. It is designed to provide emotional stabilization in a more home-like environment than a hospital. Treatment interventions are non-coercive. Cedar House is an unlocked facility. It is staffed round the clock by nurses and mental health workers, and a psychiatrist is always available, on call. On business days, the team psychiatrist and the therapists are available.

  • Medication
  • Case management
  • Psychotherapy
  • Family therapy
  • Living skills training
  • Life enriching groups
  • There is linkage with other services such as medical and dental care and financial assistance.

Populations Served:

Adults and older adults with acute psychotic problems who need treatment 24 hours per day.

How To Access  Services:

Referrals from Emergency Psychiatric Service (EPS), Mental Health Center of Boulder County therapists or case managers and jail, shelter, or hospital liaisons.
